In 2014 he received his board certification in Integrative and Holistic Medicine and in 2023 he became certified by The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine as a Medical Director for Nursing Homes.

Biography:
Dr. Brendan Fitzsimmons was the sixth of nine children and grew up in the Chicagoland area. He spent six years in the Navy as a radar tech before moving to Wyoming to go to the University of Wyoming in Larmie. He then went on to Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska where he graduated in 1995. He completed the Family Medicine Residency of the University of North Dakota in Minot, North Dokata and has been board certified in family medicine since 1998. He continued to pursue education and certifications during his career. In 2014 he received his board certification in Integrative and Holistic Medicine and in 2023 he became certified by The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine as a Medical Director for Nursing Homes.
After marrying his wife who is from Wyoming, he decided to settle in the state to practice medicine. He has been a private practitioner as well as an employed physician in various parts of Wyoming including Laramie, Greybull/ Basin, Lovell, Pinedale/ Mableton/ Big Piney, Lander, Saratoga, and now Kemmerer. For the majority of his career, he has done clinic work, emergency medicine, and provided care for nursing centers. He will continue to work as a full-time family medicine provider at South Lincoln Primary Care as well as the Medical Director of South Lincoln Nursing Center.
Dr. Fitzsimmons lives with his wife in Pinedale and has three children who are all grown and continue to live in Wyoming. He is an avid reader who enjoys mostly nonfiction such as popular neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, political science, and above all history, especially Roman history. For most of his life he enjoyed swimming, running, skiing, and hiking; although he had slowed down in those activities over the past few years. He is fascinated by languages and speaks some Spanish and has tried his hand at Italian and Icelandic. He loves to go to the movie theater when the topography in Wyoming allows it. He enjoys traveling. He especially loves being a doctor and although he has reached a point where many of his classmates are retiring, he hopes to continue practicing for many years to come.
